The Royal Tyrrell Museum of Palaeontology is regarded as a preeminent internationally renowned dinosaur museum. In 2019, a new addition to the existing building was constructed. It has become a major component to the current visitor footpath through the interior space. It showcases new Albertosaurus dinosaur fossils and research, and simultaneously provides visitors a chance to rest and experience the outdoor environment - particularly the unique hillside structures known as the "hoodoos".
The Design Foundation designed and produced five interactive items for the exhibit: "Learn about Albertosaurus", which explores various aspects of the animals physionomy (tail, legs, and lungs, in particular); Meet the Scientist", which allows the visitor to explore various aspects of research by on site scientists, with specific regard to teeth and brain development; "Build a Dinosaur", in which visitors are asked to chinteractive which is highly popular.oose various body parts which combine to hopefully create a "feasable" dino; "How Old Are You?", which equates human years to dino years; and "Explore the Cretaceous" a VR interactive in which visitors manipulate a dinosaur head, within which is a monitor indicating an expansive Cretaceous environment. As one manipulates the head left and right, and can zoom in and out, animals appear. 3D digital reconstructions of several animals were created for this interactive.
